Five quartets have proceeded to the semi-finals of the Trondheim International Chamber Competition. All competition rounds are taking place at the Freemason Hall in Trondheim, Norway. The semi-finalists are: 

Motus Quartet (The Netherlands/Croatia/Hungary/US)

Erinys Quartet (US/Estonia/Finland/Greece)

Modulor Quartet (Switzerland/Germany/Malaysia)

Monbijou Quartet (Sweden)

Absalon Quartet (Norway/Sweden/Denmark)

In the semi-final, which will take place on Thursday 25 September, the groups will present a programme comprising a range of styles. It must contain music from at least three different composers, including a previous edition’s commission or a work by a Trondheim Chamber Music Festival composer. 

The quartets are competing for a €15,000 first prize, which also includes festival engagments. Second prize is €10,000, while third prize is €5,000. 

The 2025 edition jury is chaired by Levon Chilingirian and consists of Asbjørn Nørgaard, Bjørg Lewis, Øyvor Volle, Minna Pensola, Radovan Vlatković and Tomas Djupsjöbacka.

Previous winners include chamber groups such as the Danish Quartet, Van Kuijk Quartet and Trio con Brio Copenhagen.
